Are you
about to become a stay at home Dad?
Neal Boyle
(Director & Cameraman with Hollybrook Films) is developing
a TV series on stay-at-home dads. I am looking for Dads who
are about to stop work / take redundancy in the near future
and are going to be the main stay-at-home parent for the short
term at least.
Whether
by choice or circumstance, Irish fathers are taking a bigger
role in the day-to-day care of their children. Being at home
with the kids might be brought about by choice, redundancy
or job loss but I see this series as mostly being about fatherhood
and from the guy's perspective - men have different attitudes
towards parenting which we rarely hear. I want to hear what
you think about parenting, how easy or hard it is, or how
you're getting on trying to juggle childcare with setting
up a new business, retraining or looking for work.
Stay at
home Dads might not be the 'traditional role' but there is
a growing number doing this now. For many this is their first
real opportunity to spend lot of time with their child or
children and have the time to watch them grow - the series
would record that time from the Dad's point of view.
Ideally
I want to follow Dads from their first days at home, follow
how they're getting on and hear their thoughts and experiences
of being the parent at home. If
you would be interested in taking part please contact me at:
